A class senator shall be responsible for representing his or her constituents in General Assembly. Each senator will serve on at least one internal SGA committee and willfully perform the tasks required of him or her. A senator may introduce resolutions before the General Assembly. This position requires organization, leadership, dedication, team work, active listening and communication skills, and support among a constituency of the student body. A willingness to work on improving all aspects of the Drury student experience is a must.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
This job description is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities or requirements.  The vice president may be required to perform other SGA-related instructions as requested by the advisor, the president, or as deemed necessary by the senate.

  1. Each senator shall represent the student body on issues of student concern.
  2. Each senator shall serve on an SGA standing committee.
  3. Each senator shall have the right to introduce resolutions to the General Assembly on matters of student concern.
  4. Each senator shall interact and/or serve with campus committees as directed by EC and/or the bylaws.
  5. Each senator shall complete all voluntary assigned tasks in a time frame predetermined by his/her respective committee.
  6. Each senator shall have an equal vote.
  7. Each senator shall be visionary and proactive in all of his/her assigned duties.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All job requirements listed indicate the minimum knowledge, skills, and/or ability deemed necessary to perform the job proficiently.

  1. Ability to effectively facilitate meetings, lead discussion, and speak in public settings in front of small and large groups of people.
  2. A strong sense of leadership, self-motivation, and reliability.
  3. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with students, faculty and staff.
  4. Ability to use computer software effectively to prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  5. An understanding of Parliamentary Procedures and Robert's Rules of Order.
  6. Candidates must be enrolled as a full-time, day school student for undergraduate positions.
